The 8th International Symposium on Green Chemistry in China (8th ISGCC 2007)

The International Symposiums on Green Chemistry in China (ISGCC) were sponsored by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and international coordination committee on green chemistry. The ISGCC together with the Annual Green Chemistry and Engineering Conferences in United States and the Gordon Conferences on Green Chemistry in Europe , have become the top conferences in the entire field of green chemistry among the world. The ISGCC has made great contribution in promoting the research in green chemistry and processes. Especially, the conferences have provided important opportunities to communicate among the world-ranked researches in green chemistry, and to improve the green chemistry researches in China .

The ISGCC is held annually. The past seven events of ISGCC were hosted by the University of Science and Technology of China, Sichuan University , Shandong University and the Guangzhou Institute of Chemistry ( Chinese Academy of Sciences). In the 7 th ISGCC in Zhuhai ( Guangdong Province , China ), the international coordination committee on Green Chemistry decided that the ISGCC will be held every 2 years from the 8 th ISGCC, and the 8 th ISGCC will be held in Beijing , hosted by Beijing University of Technology, co-sponsored by Institute of Chemistry and Institute of Process Engineering , Chinese Academy of Sciences.

According to the decision of the international coordination committee on Green Chemistry, the 8 th ISGCC will be held in Beijing University of Technology on May 21-24, 2007 . The chairman of the academic committee is Professor Qingshi Zhu from University of Science and Technology of China. The members of the academic committee are composed of the members of the international coordination committee on green chemistry, Professor Enze Min, and Professor Mingyuan He. The chairman and the executive chairman of the organizing committee are Professor Ze Zhang and Professor Yuanbin She from Beijing University of Technology respectively, the vice chairmen are Professor Qingxiang Guo from the University of Science and Technology of China, Professor Buxing Han from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Suojiang Zhang from Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The topic of the 8 th ISGCC is on green chemistry and engineering and sustainable development. The theme of this symposium will focus on the most recent achievements and developments in entire green chemistry field including chemistry, biotechnology and environmental science. The plenary lecture will be given by the world-class researchers in the field of Green Chemistry, and participants are invited to submit extended abstracts or papers for oral or poster presentation. All accepted papers will be published as a CV disk and a special book by China Petrochemical Press.

The participants will include the researchers around the world and the delegates from Ministry of Science and Technology of People's Republic of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Chemical Society and Beijing municipal government. The attendance of the symposium will be 150-180 approximately, including about 30 foreign researchers.

All researchers in the field of green chemistry and engineering are welcome to participate in the symposium.
